Speaker (Prepared Speech)

Goal

To develop public speaking skills by delivering a well-prepared speech and gaining constructive feedback. The Speaker contributes actively to the learning experience of the entire club.

Tasks

  • Select a project from the Pathways curriculum and clarify its objectives.
  • Request your speech slot in EasySpeak.
  • Look out yourself for a Speech Evaluator for your speech.
  • Inform your Speech Evaluator early about your project goals and any specific areas where you would like feedback.
  • Prepare your speech thoroughly, aligning it with the project objectives and the allotted time (usually 5–7 minutes, unless announced otherwise).
  • Integrate your mentor into the speech preparation, if helpful.
  • Provide the Speech Evaluator with a short description of your project so they can introduce it properly.
  • Rehearse your speech to ensure structure, clarity, and timing.
  • Deliver your speech confidently during the meeting.
  • Insert your speech title in easySpeak.

Hints

  • Focus on a clear message and purpose — what should the audience think, feel, or do?
  • Structure your speech with a strong opening, a clear body, and a memorable conclusion.
  • Use body language, facial expression, vocal variety, and stage presence intentionally.
  • Stay within the allotted time — rehearse with a timer.
  • Be open to feedback — it is a gift for your development.
  • Your speech is an opportunity to experiment, grow, and enjoy the stage.
